Thanks for all the advice regarding the smell after painting over previously emulsioned paper
Unfortunately the onions whether cut or in water made no difference
I removed everything from the room and pest control operative assures me it is not a rodent
The smell has changed from a catty odour to a more chemical smell but it is getting less
