Can I use white oil paint for my lounge to cover up smoke damage?

Posted by Alexander Coker, on
Originally painted white, my home has had to be fumigated. I tried using white emulsion, but it just wouldn't hold. What must i do?

Hi William You may have to clean all areas with a strong solution of sugar soap, then use a good quality stain blocker, then re emulsion. Hope this helps. Mike

you can use undercoat as a stain block or you can try sugar soap to wash of smock damage before painting or if you go to your local paint shop you can buy stain block witch comes in a spray can and is easy to apily

Hi William. You should prime all areas to be decorated with one full coat of Bulls Eye1-2-3 Plus Primer Sealer made by Zinsser. If excessive absorption occurs then a second coat may be required. Allow two hours drying time when using as a stain blocker, then decorate with two full coats of Perma-White Interior again made by Zinsser. Using this system should work beautifully and without any horrible odours. Although it will be expensive it is definitely worth it. Hope this helps. All the best. Richard
