Lining the walls vs sizing

Wallpaper instructions say to line paper the walls prior to the finished wallpaper application. Does sizing the walls serve the same purpose when the existing walls are in excellent condition?

Sizing does not serve the same purpose but if your walls are in great condition you don't need to line them first in most cases. However you will be wise to size them.
