Can I put a lining paper on top of lyncrusta

Posted by Susan fletcher, on
We have bought a 1920's house and when we removed the wallpaper from the paneling in the hall, we discovered a wood effect lyncrusta underneath. Can we cover this with a lining paper then paint?

Hello Susan Usually Lincrusta is heavily embossed. Is this the case? If so, then you wouldn't be able to put lining paper on top. If the surface is smooth, with perhaps a few imperfections, then a 100g lining paper can go on top. It all depends on the finish of the lincrusta really. Hope this helps John
