How long to leave newly plastered walls before painting

Posted by kate , on
Hi there! I understand i need to sand my newly plastered walls, then use a watered down emulsion, then finish it off with proper paint of my choice - but how long should i leave the plaster before sanding and applying the mist coat? i saw 4-6 weeks on one website and another said not to leave it too long so it doesn't crack.

Hi Kate, As already replied 1 week should be fine, but please check first. You can tell by the colour difference as you can see the plaster drying out. Once it's uniform in colour then it's fine. Yes water down some white emulsion paint and finish with 2-3 coats of your chosen colour. Taa-dah! A nicely decorated room! Hope this helps, Craig
