Water based gloss not covering door hinges properly what do I do?

Posted by clare mcshee, on
I am using water based gloss for the first time, I usually redecorate every 12 months and am aiming to get longer between needing to redo everything. It just keeps peeling off my door hinges lie it won't stick on properly I have sanded original paint used an undercoat and tried 2 different brands from b and q but still it just isn't covering like oil based gloss does. Please help me I have a large house and water based seems ideal to stop me constantly decorating and drying time with kids and pets is also a big bonus. I have to cover the hinges with paint as they are very old and have already been painted many times. Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi Clare. I'm a decorator of 59 years old. I've been converted to Water based gloss , under coat , satin and eggshell paints . You just have to stick with it . 2 , 3 or even4 coats . Once you've got it . You're sorted . My lounge looks like I done it yesterday.2 1/2 years ago. And yes !! I paint my hinges after all these years. Good luck!
