Difficult wallpaper removal

We have wallpaper that was put right on the wallboard without sizing the wall first. What method do you recommend to remove the wallpaper?

Steaming is generally the best as it will loosen the adhesive, you may need to pierce/score the surface to allow it to penetrate. THanks
