Hi Christine It could possibly be a ignition problem on the Hob itself. Usually when you depress the ignition button you will hear a clicking or ticking sound as the ignition spark jumps the gap from the electrode. It could be a electrical fault on the ignition side of the unit. The best way forward would be to ask for a Gas Safe Registered engineer to take a look for you. There are Gas Safe engineers here on Rated People that can help you, they will need to have the relevant qualifications to work on gas cookers and appliances. Gas safe engineers will have a ID registration card detailing the qualifications that they have, including the gas services and appliances they are able to work on. Hi Christine It's probably the thermocouple, and needs a servicing. Ring the aga shop, they will service the cooker for you, costs about £112
