Hi there what you might consider trying is to: 1 locate the metal joists behind the wall by knocking along the wall - higher pitch noise when knocking suggests a metal stud is there. 2 fixing a timber batten across the identified stud locations using a battery drill and self taping screws 3 fix the whiteboard to the timber batten(s) That's how I would go about it.
