I do not know if I need a builder, a wall expert , a tree surgeon or both. My perimeter wall (concrete blocks I think) is being pushed over by leylandi roots and other roots on a high bank behind the wall. The wall is about 12 metres long and is leaning at 70 degrees . The leylandi are two in number but the trunks immediately split into 6/7 very thick trunks once out of the ground . The affect about 6 metres of the wall. They are about 3 stories of a house in height.
I feel I should have the leylandis lopped to head height as a stage one job by a bog standard tree feller, before they grow in spring and to take the pressure off the wall collapsing etc . Then I could bide my time in getting the wall straightened .
Is this false economy ? How much should I expect to pay for stage one? Is the cost in disposing of 6/7 thick trunks of leylandi . I dont imagine the usual lorry mounted shredders would cope? Not sure.
Regarding the leaning wall , is that a job for the average builder or are there specialist garden wall builder/repairers available . I imagine a mini digger wouldbe required to clear the bank and some sort of additional protection to stop the bank settling against the wall again.
Thanks
