Relocation of internal bearing wall

Posted by Justin Gaunt, on
I’m pretty sure th wall in load bearing but I’m looking to move it over approximately one meter to make the room square and not a weird L shape. What would I need? Do I need steel joists installed? Should I get a re-support plan. I’m not sure as it can still be a bearing wall, I just want to move it over.

You'll need a structural engineer and if the S.E says it's load bearing the planning office at the council will need to be told. The S.E will work out what size joists to use and draw up plans the builder works to his speck. normally costs c £1500 - £3k
