Hi Reena, A coat of anti damp paint won't do it any harm but you may want to see what is causing the problem, is there a pipe on the other side of the wall that may be broken/ leaking/ blocked or a gutter that is overflowing above the area and causing the water to splash back up brickwork above the damp proof course.
