Tanking means to internally waterproof and area or room with a liquid membrane that doesnt permeate water but allows the wall the breathe. i.e for upstairs shower areas you need to apply a liquid membrane tanking formula to the wall where the shower enclosure would sit. it is so water cant get through grouted tiles or wet wall panels.
