Extension lead

Posted by Roger Britton, on
I have recently fitted new skirting boards and I have run an extension cable from a 13amp socket and hidden the cable behind the skirting. I now find the cable has come up short. Can I safely extend the cable by using a junction box?

Hi roger, Firstly, you should never run electrical cables behind skirting boards. They should have been run Uber the floor or thorough the ceiling void and dropped down/up to where you need them That said, the correct way to extend cable is to crimp a further length to the one already there. You can also use a small junction box to achieve the same result if there is room. Hope this helps. Jim
