Load bearing brackets

Posted by Graham , on
I was attempting to put up some brackets and discovered that behind the plasterboard was a thick piece of ply, I was hoping to use the the Gripit wall fixings and the can handle large amounts of weight, would it be an option to buy long wood screws and secure the brackets to the wall? it will need to handle aprox 100kg

Hi Graham Presuming you are trying to fix to a stud wall and there is plywood behind the plasterboard? It would be fine to fix in to the ply but be careful using too long a screw, allow for the screw to go about 20mm in to the ply . Take care that there are no electrical sockets in the area you are fixing in to. Ed
