Tv wall mounting in pre fab space on the wall

Posted by Rich Odam, on
We’ve recently moved into a brand new townhome which has a pre fab placed for wall mounting a tv on a shallow nook. The backing is 1/2 inch thick wood and there’s no vertical studs, just two really studs running horizontally at the top and bottom of the space. The wall mount bracket can only reach the top stud. I’m just wondering if it’s ok for the bottom screws to be screwed only into the 1/2” wood panel is do I need an anchor

Hi Rich, I would suggest you spread the weight of the TV wherever possible. All the pressure will be in the top of the bracket so ideally to anchor the lower end of the bracket would be best. Wood panelling wouldn’t be enough to secure the bracket. Hope this helps. Dougie @ Clear Comms
