Multi core cable

Posted by Steve Cornish, on
I've some 6 core 6mm wide each wire 1mm wide cable. I'm wiring 2 x stop and 2 x indicator LED's strips 10 cm each in lengh into a motorcycle top box. The cable is rated at 60 v.a.c. BS6746BS4747 and would make a nice neat job being so thin. Am I barking up the wrong tree intending to use this cable?

Hi Steve, Without knowing the power rating of said LED lights then I can't 100% say that the cable you have would be adequate But.... The power consumption of LED's are so small and the length of cable you would need (not very much) would suggest that cable would be completely fine, if anything it would be overkill you you probably get away with 0.5mm2 cable (capable of 3amps) I hope this helps Thanks Stephen
