Extractor fan

Posted by Alicia Walsh, on
Moved into new property but it transpires the extractor fan in the bathroom although it is wired up, the pipe and the vent doesn't lead anywhere. Just leads up into the loft space and not outside. In essence, extractor fan and pipe is already fitted, but needs an escape route. Would it be a plumber or a roofer?

Hi Alicia, I would suggest a Roofer as the ducting will require connecting to an external outlet, preferably a roof tile vent. Roofers generally have the access equipment and knowledge of the correct vent tile to match existing tiles. If you use your bathroom and the extractor fan cuts in, it is just sending the warm and moisture into the roof space, which in the colder weather will cause a build up of condensation. hope this helps. Andrew.
