Removing a pantry in the kitchen

Posted by barry G, on
Hi There I have a pantry in the kitchen which is roughly 1 meter square in a corner next to the door to the lounge and the staircase it’s in the lounge going up to the first floor. Above the pantry is the first square step above the stairs and I want to remove the pantry wall and door frame not the wall going around the kitchen where the door opens. I tapped the pantry wall it not brick just the dry brises made out of grey blocks which is a false wall been put in the kitchen for a pantry in the 1970s. Will I need a RSJ as its small and the pantry is right in a corner of the kitchen. Can I do this myself as I seen on YouTube this can be done without a builder just a DIYer instead? Thanks for your help
