My fiance and I just bought a house and are trying to improve some energy efficiency. Our inspector told us that the cellulose insulation in the attic was old, degraded and not providing much insulation. He recommended rolling fiberglass insulation or batts over the top of the cellulose. Is this something we should actually do or will we just end up risking ourselves and our ceiling for not much energy savings?
