Fixing pull up bar to plasterboard wall

Posted by Mike Curry, on
I have a pull up bar I would like to install in a large cupboard in my new build flat in which all the walls are plasterboard. The instructions for the CORENGTH Lockable Pull-Up Bar - 100 cm (from Decathlon) say only to be installed on a door frame which is not possible in our flat. In the only suitable area to install it it is in between wooden studs so my question is, is there a way to fix this to plasterboard safely so it will take my weight? I had thought of fixing a square of wood to the wall each side (with say four metal spring toggle plasterboard fixings and also glue wood to wall) and then attaching the pole to that (seemed to me to be the best option) , or alternatively fixing the pole directly to the wall and fixing some wood underneath it to take some of the weight? Any idea if any of these methods would be safe? Or is this a bad idea and should I not do this at all? Thanks for any replies Mike
