French drains

Posted by Steve Anderson, on
We have a Victorian mid-terrace, with a condensation problem in our subfloor area. A builder has recommended getting a french drain installed around the external walls to try and dry the area better. When posting on here should I post in builders or drainage specialists? The builder we spoke to said that the job would be around 2500 (+VAT). This would include excavating concrete, digging the trench, leaving for a few months to dry out and then returning to fill. Also the waste would need to be taken away. Is this a fair estimate as it seems like a lot to me? It's probably around 30 ft split between the front and back.
