Lighting timer

Is there any way to install a timer in place of a wall mounted toggle when there are only two wires. the hot and the positive to the light?

If you only have two wires connected to the switch, it means there's no neutral there, so you can only install certain types of timer switches or you will have to run a permanent feed to the switch in order to install more sophisticated timer switches. The types of timer switches you can still install are the "pneumatic time delay switch" or a "2 wire PIR activated timer" The wires you're talking about are the permanent Line and the Switched Line. There's no positive wire in alternative current.

Hi John I would recomend to post a job on main website because some of a job needs to be seen before any advice is given. Our service is free of charge with no obligation quote and our tradesmans are happy to help with every aspects of jobs. I would strongly recomend to post a job on Rated People home page then 3 companies will get in touch then you would be able to choose the right person as you would receive an e mail with a link to tradesman account where you would see a pictures and you will read revious from previous customers. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal
