Replacing MR16 50W 680lm halogen dimmable ceiling lights with LED

Posted by Emma , on
What is the best way to replace MR16 50W 680lm halogen dimmable ceiling lights with LED (prefer to keep dimmable option if reasonable)What I need to buy and where from? The flat would need between 50 and 100 lights so the price is important Thank you!

MR16 lamps will prob be 12v and not mains voltage so you would also need to replace the 12v transformers will LED drivers as the LED Lamps may not work correctly with transformers. I changed mine a while back and had to fit drivers as the lamps would just flash on and off. You would prob need to use 4 or 5w LED lamps to replace the 50w halogen. It wont be cheap, they are about a fiver per lamp so replacing them along with drivers would be costly and then you'll prob need an electrician to replace the transformers. If you had 10 lamps in a room @5w each you would need a minimum of 50w driver to run these. LED hut on line is a good place to get the gear from Hope all this makes sense.
