Buying a first time built in electric oven and hob need help!

Posted by Carol Aljundi, on
I want to buy a built in electric oven and hob, I was looking at the appliances and some are hardwire or 13 Amp plug. Can i buy a both appliances which are hardwire or buy a hardwire hob with a 13 Amp plug oven or vice versa. I used to have a freestanding cooker so I am really confused how to buy it, I prefer both to be able to use the same wall point from the old cooker can i be able to do this? As you can see I am really confused!Any help?? Thanks

Hi Carol, Really need the total loading of both oven and hob before giving advice but Your hob will be designed to be hard wired into the cooker circuit. As for the cooker you can buy either (your choice). If you buy a plug top type you can just plug into a standard socket, which you may have to install at low level if you've not already got one.If the oven is hard wire you can connect with the hob in a dual ccu (cooker connection unit). I would really need the total loading (kw)before saying for def.Make sure you get an electrician to do this work for you as the circuit mcb may need altering Hope this helps a little
