Loose cables acceptable in attic storage space?

Posted by John Andreae, on
I have not been happy about a number of things in my complete wiring job but got most of hem fixed by the electrician. however Ive just discovered that in a small attic ladder entry storage space he has left the lighting wiring for the bathroom below running loose across the floor of the attic and some of them are joined by junction boxes. Is this acceptable given that i put a number of items up there and they are likely to sit on the wires and I walk in there myself from time to time? Thanks john

Hi John The cable loose across the floor isnt good. It should be clipped to the side of the joists. As for the junction boxes-providing there are no lids missing or cables sticking out with no grey pvc they should be fine.He may have wired the upstairs lights via a joint box method. The junction boxes should be fixed in place as well not left loose. If your not happy get the guy back again. Hope this helps Russ
