Ask to see their ID card. I always show my NICEIC ID to the customer when I arrive at the job. You can go on the NICEIC website to check to see if they are registered. As Bogdan says there are also other electrical organizations you can look at other than NICEIC. NAPIT are one of those Russ

NICEIC is organisation where each electrician can be registered ( but not necessary ) There is more organisations where electricians can be register . What are they doing ? Some clever people take money from members and they think they are clever than others so sometimes give advise to others . There is no informations about NICEIC in current Electrical Regulations . NiCEIC is a competent person scheme approved by the government. It is not a qualification. Membership gives the electrician the approval to self certificate and notify certain electrical work themselves in dwellings (domestic). However there is also ELECSA and NAPIT which are just as good.
