Hi Robert, It involves both visual inspection of the installation and actual electrical testing of all outgoing circuits from the consumer unit. The electrician will provide you with a full report of his findings,test results,an inspection schedule along with any recommendations if any, to bring the installation up to standard. Depending upon the size of property this can take anything from 2-4 hrs on site before returning home to process your report for you. Hope this helps Russ
