Intermittent lights circuit fault

I have an intermittent lights circuit fault. It keeps tripping out even with no lights are on. It comes back when I flick the switch but goes off again any time within 5mins to 3hrs. Any ideas re cause or solution? Many thanks

Hi John, Could do with a little more info Is it the lighting mcb that is tripping? Have you got a RCD and if so is that tripping How long as it been happening? Have you had any work done?not just electrical,plumbing work,have any floorboards been up? Thanks Russ
