Rewiring House - Moving external casing to behind wall

Posted by Sameer Singh, on
The house I'm living in has recently (4-5 years ago) been rewired, however all the electrical wiring are enclosed in some external casing/tube that is the over the wallpaper/wall, which makes it all look pretty ugly, as visible for all to see This is across the whole house (3 bed terrace). If I were to hire a electrician to remove the external casing and to move the wiring behind the wall (as I'm assuming that is how it should be), would this be considered to be a large amount of work and approximately how much are we looking at in-terms of money approximately?

Hi Sameer, Is it just lighting or sockets as well? It will have been done like that as prob the previous person didn't want damage to decoration. If you want this conduit removing the cables would need sinking into the walls and plastered over. He would also need to sink the back box into the wall. Cost would depend on whether you want the whole job doing or you get the electrical work done and you plaster yourself. Without seeing the job i think you would be looking at couple of days for an electrician and a day for the plasterer so prob looking at 600/700 Hope this helps Russ
