Hi Wayne, You would need to verify that the socket is actually on the ring.Just because there are 2 cables does not mean its on a ring.It could be the middle of a radial circuit. If its confirmed as on the ring then you can install your fcu either in place of or after and then proceed to feed your kitchen socket.If you did this it might be an idea to label this new socket in kitchen because somebody else may come along in time and turn kitchen sockets off and they would all be dead bar this one because its being fed from a different circuit i e upstairs spur.
