Complete rewiring or few changes

Posted by Amina Latif, on
Hi, I have moved into a house which seems to have fairly new sockets, ceiling lights downdsairs but old rope hanging light fittings upstairs.. Do I need a complete rewiring immediately or can I wait for 6 months or so when I can afford it? Do I need to replace the rope pendants if I plan to take a lodger?

Hi Amina Personally I would get an electrician out to carry out an ECIR Electrical Condition Inspection Report. This will give you a comprehensive report into the condition of your electrical installation. He could then advise you of any work that may or may not need to be done. I carry out a full ECIR for 150.I would happily carry this out for you. Did your survey not mention getting the electrics checked? Thanks Russ
