Hi Terry As replies below its all normal. You will get that reading between Live+Earth.You will also get that between Live+Neutral but if you test Neutral+Earth you will get 0v. What was your reason for testing the voltage? Thanks

My neutral and earth seem to be connected, everything works ok but if put a mains tester between live and earth I get 240v reading.

Perfectly normal. In lots of properties neutral and earth are connected at the electrical intake. If not they are connected at the local substation.
