Rcd tripping out when I use my lightswitches.

Posted by Jamie Fry, on
My rcd sometimes trips out when I use either my bedroom, hallway or landing light. I've had an electrician out who has told me the lights aren't connected so have nothing to do with it tripping. He PAT tested everything in the house and even got someone else to check all the electrics in the boiler but nothing was wrong with any of it. The thing is it's still happening, each time is when I've just used a light switch. Please help!

Sometimes up/down hallway lights borrowed neutral from downstairs lighting. Still think it must be finding a pathway somehow..

Hi Jamie, Although you've been told otherwise,if its happening when you use your lights it does sound like the lighting circuit is connected to the RCD side of your consumer unit. Without being there and seeing the consumer unit set up its difficult. I can only suggest you get another electrician out and strip the lighting circuit down and test it all out fully as it seems there is a fault somewhere. Thanks Russ
