Posted by Denis Flavin, on
If I have an old style fuseboard replaced with a modern one, an extractor fan fitted in the bathroom and a loft light installed do any or all of them need to be notified to any authority and should I get a certificate when its done

Hi Denis Yeah the fuseboard and extractor will be notifiable under Part P. As for the loft light,he'll prob just extend the lighting circuit to accommodate the loft light so no this job wont. If a new circuit was added for this then the answer would be yes. You should receive an electrical installation cert for the fuse board,a minor works cert for the other 2 jobs from the electrician doing the work. The electrician should then notify building control that he has carried out this work. You will then receive a separate cert from building control a week or 2 after the notification Thanks Russ
