DIY powerbank - parts

Posted by John , on
Hi. I want to build by self a powerbank with capacity ~34800 mah. For now i have in Basket on jprelec.co.uk store: 6xAA battery box, 10 bar LED array Red and Lithium AA cell. I don't really know what parts i need :/. Long time ago i saw some parts that i need like a lithium charger. I want this 10 led bar with button to quick check battery level of power bank, and i must calculate how big enclosure/case i need. 34800 mah it's not good enough, because i want some more capacity like 50Ah, or ~40Ah with a solar panel. Powerbank should be charged by micro USB, and device connected to powerbank should be charged by USB and minimum 1000mah. There will be good as well some protectors of over/dis charge batteries. I know that i can buy another lith batteries (not AA cells) but i can't find them in UK, and they can be expensive right?

Hi John Instead of spending money on something that it might not work, you better buy a kit which will include the solar panel, the solar battery and the inverter. You also have to know the wattage you're going to need and depending onto that you can dimension your system. You can get a 85Ah Deep Cycle Battery for example, a 80-100 Watts solar panel, a 300W inverter and a 12V charge controller. All these shouldn't cost more than £600. A system like that can give you about 400W per day (in summer time) and you can power up all your lighting in the house if you change all to LED. Enjoy, Cornelius Cretu
