Twin electric sockets

Posted by L B, on
Electric sockets - Cannot push plug through several sockets in my property - Also some switches to these sockets are stuck in the 'off or 'on'' position - Q1. is it safe to plug in to the socket where the switch is constantly stuck in the 'on' position? Q.2 Will the entire sockets need to be replaced? (they are twin sockets, with just one of them with the above problems) Q3. Would you recommend re-wiring all the sockets in the property? (NB: the property is quite old)

Hi L Just get the plates changed. Not a big or costly job. There is no need to rewire the sockets. When was the last time the electrical installation was checked? There may be a sticker on the consumer unit telling you this If you are concerned at all you could get an electrician to carry out an electrical condition inspection report (ECIR) which will check all your wiring etc within your propoerty and give you a full report Thanks Russ

The sockets just need the faces replacing. Would advise against using them as they generally trip out tge breakers when in this state.

What would you like to do now?
