Should I get it checked?

Posted by Seeta Patel, on
Had a floor lamp which recently tripped the RCD circuit protector. Replaced the bulb but every time we tried it the circuit tripped so got rid of the lamp (it was not energy efficient anyway). Today turned on my an oil filled radiator (a different socket). Again it tripped the RCD protector twice, Waited for an hour and tried to turn on again. I have pressed the reset buttonn and turned the circuit breaker back on. Seems OK now, however, I am a bit worried there may be an underlying issue. I am not sure whether I should get the circuit checked and if so, what I should be asking for. Or should I 'hold fire' and see if the problem reoccurs? Any sound advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Seeta, It seems that it might be a fault onto that particular circuit. You have to contact an electrician to have the issue investigated, run some tests onto that circuit and check the RCD. Hope this helps!

Hi Seeta, Random tripping can be caused by a whole host of issues, if it doesn't seem to being caused by any particular thing plugged in then you should get it checked out by a suitably qualified electrician who will have the testing equipment to identify which part of the system is causing the fault. Hope that helps Regards Steve
