Cooker Isolation Switch

Posted by Simon Briggs, on
I have 2 cooker isolation switches on the wall in my kitchen that are not controlling the cooker at all, they actually isolate a plug socket that my dishwasher is plugged into & a freezer. Can these switch's be removed and a standard plug socket fitted in it's place? how would this affect the dishwasher & freezer circuits?

Hi Simon So whats controlling your cooker? Sounds like its an old cooker circuit and someones already done a bit of converting. The isolation switch will prob have 6mm cable into the supply switch and 6mm out of the load side of the switch down to the dishwasher(which has been converted to a socket).Only prob you would have is that you would struggle to get 2x 6mm into a normal socket outlet. Get an electrician to take a look at the set up for you and see exactly what goes where. Its hard to say and I would want to give you false infomation. Hope this helps a little Russ
