Cable run for electric oven cicuit

Posted by Ian Mitchell, on
Can we run the cable for a new circuit for an electric oven down the wall next to the existing gas pipe? Intend to use 20mm tile backing board on either side and tile over the lot instead of channeling the wall.

Hi Ian, Short answer is no.. New cables must always be routed in straight lines in the prescribed zones. Routing gas and electric next to each other is a no no irrespective of what it is covered with. The installation of a new cooker circuit would come under works requiring to be notified to building control and correctly tested and certified, if you were unaware of this then I suggest you contact a qualified electrician to undertake the routing, testing and certification. I hope that helps Regards Steve
