Non-notifiable work

Posted by Malcolm Akerman, on
Could I please have guidance on work I wish to carry out. I have a surface mounted isolator feeding a water heater and wish to fit a timer directly above it. It is not in a special situation (under stairs) the timer is surface mounted and the cables will pass through the knockouts and grommets with no cable showing, much like adding a surface mounted socket. In your opinion would this work be non-notifiable.

Hi Malcolm, You are right, the work is not in a special location like a garden, a kitchen or a bathroom. For that kind of work usually is issued a Minor Works Certificate because that's an alteration of an existing circuit. Make sure you know what you're doing. Find out what's the current that isolator has to switch on/off and make sure that timer can safely switch on/off the same current. Regards,
