Hi David, You need a cable detector. Usually these detectors also detects wooden and metal studs and metal pipes. You'll also need to have an understanding of how building are constructed and how services like pipes and cables are run, to use it, otherwise you will be frustrated when your machine beeps all the time and you don't understand why.
