LED lighting on existing coving?

Posted by Carin Bradley, on
I have deep coving and cornices to several rooms. I'd like to highlight them with led striplights. Is it possible to surface mount lights to them? I can conceal the transformer(s) in (accessible) ceiling/floor voids. Lighting designer wants me to rip out original features (!!) and install new repro coving with inset lights Taking the Michael or the only way it can be done?

Hi Carin, It is possible to mount LED strips/tapes/bars onto any coving and you can even get waterproof LED strips in case you want to fit them in a bathroom/sauna/kitchen. In order to fit them properly you'll need a strong adhesive or find a way to fit them with some small clips. If you have spotlights, you can hide the transformers behind the spotlights in the ceiling to have access to them later for maintenance purposes. Regards,

Hi Carin, Nowadays there is such a wide variety of available led lighting I can't see why you wouldn't be able to keep the original features.. It will just take a little more imagination as to how the cables are concealed. I hope that helps Regards Steve TD Survey and Electrical Ltd
