Extractor fan in cloakroom

Posted by Alan Lyons, on
Whe turned on, the extractor fan in our downstars cloakroom makes and intermittent "squealing noise: for about 10 seconds before settling down. Can this be easily fixed?

Hi Alan, Try removing the cover and then loosen up the screws that hold the fan in place and see what happens. If there's no more squealing noise, you'll know it's from the screws which squeeze the fan. If you can still hear the noise even after removing the screws, than one of the blades of the fan might be faulty or there's too much dust between the fan's blades and the encasement of the blades and there's a bit of friction when the fan starts. Regards,
