Power supply from one unit to a second unit

Posted by Daniel O'neill, on
Hi I am trying to wire up a second consumer unit in my loft to power 7 wall sockets on a ring plus 1 lighting ring. But I was just wondering what size cable to use to supply one unit downstairs to the new unit upstairs? Cheers

Hi If your planning to install a consumer unit this is notifiable under Part P. This means they will charge you approx £100 - £150 to come n inspect it for u. Alternative is to get a registered electrician to do the work,he can sign the work for u and inform building control hence no building control fee. Hope this helps

ciao Daniel ,i confirm what my colleague has explained ,at the same time you need a new light circuit. Made sure to get an electric certificate for each change that is made. EMS

Hey Daniel, depending on what you're planning to run off the sockets above, 6.0 Twin and earth run off a 32A MCB/RCBO should be plenty to carry the required load I would highly recommend that a qualified and competent person carry out the work, and test the additional works once completed Thanks, Richard Baldwin (Trydanwyr Bright Spark Electricians)
