Breaker trips when Thermostat calls for off

Posted by Tony Benson, on
I cannot think of what may be a problem that takes out a trip when my heat pump switches off. It is not every time, but only happens when off is called for by the Thermostat. If I switch it off at the wall point, it is ok. The system is old, around 2000. At a service to look at the problem, there were lots of melted wire insulation. This was all cut back and the connections remade and all was well for a couple of weeks. My thought is the Thermostat or the relay is faulty, but two service visits have not solved it yet.

Hi tony my name is David and I'm an electrician. May I ask what is tripping? Is it the RCD or circuit breaker?
