Issue caused by an electrician.

Posted by Darren Bantick, on
My electrician has done some work in my kitchen but as a result managed to knock through to my dining room and damage the plaster. The room is wall papered is it wrong to ask for the whole room to be wall papered as I don't have any wall paper to repair the damage?

Hi there Yes accidents do happen to the best of us. As Adam pointed out, all good small business's should have public liability to cover for these mishaps. So if this is in place it shouldn't be too much hassle for him to get the room sorted the way you want. If not then unfortunately its a bit of a catch 22, as he has only damaged one wall, a suggestion would be for him to cover labour costs to have the room re-papered and you to supply the paper ? It really depends on the length your electrician is willing to go to make it right to his customer. Hope this helped Nick

Accidents happen, and this is why good tradesmen have liability insurance to cover these problems.

HI, you could just strip the wall and have it plastered and painted to make a feature wall and will not cost the builder any more than £300 ish. ask him to match the paper or he will have no choice but to do the whole room or skim the wall. Regards sjh
