Electrical socket sparking

Posted by Lucy Slater, on
I have a power point in the bedroom which is connected to another socket in the next bedroom. On several occasions I have noticed sparks coming out of the socket when I have plugged/unplugged various appliances. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Hi Lucy. This is normal to see a flash when unplugging things, espeshialy high power appliances such as hair dryers/straighteners. I recommend you switching the socket off before unplugging and that should stop and flashing

Yes you should. Its very dangerous and it can cause the fire or damage the socket. You should fix this but it is not a big job most probably the connection in side the socket will be lose and need bit tightening.

What would you like to do now?
