Faulty socket

Posted by James Quinn, on
My tumble dryer stopped working I switched off power to the sockets and unscrewed the wall socket and found charring on the live wire i then switch power back on and carefully used a voltage pen and the socket was live.the switch on the socket would not return to the off position.Does the socket need replacing?

Hi James Firstly I would not recommend going into sockets unless you are competent to do so. It sounds like the socket has had its day and normally this is caused by a loose connection either at back of socket or between plug too and socket front. I would say you need a new socket on wall and plug top on the Tumble dryer.

What would you like to do now?
