Electrician query

Posted by Heidi Marshall, on
The electrician who worked on our new kitchen install has charged £50 more than quoted for a bathroom light fault he found and fixed. However said bathroom light worked fine before he touched the electrics. He is saying previous owners wired it up wrong. Can he charge us for this fault as fault was caused by him as it worked fine beforehand. Also all our new plug sockets are wonky!

Hello Heidi may I ask was a contract in place before the electrician started work? If no contract even with a contract it's not good practice to agree a price then charge more , if sockets are wonky I'd call the person back to rectify
